Journey To The West
This is a theatre poster for a contemporary ballet "Journey to the west" for Theatre Calgary's Festival. Journey To the West (Also known as "The Monkey King") is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese Literature. It is a story about four monks travelling from China to India to bring back buddism texts back.
On their way they were haunted by different kinds of monsters, demigods, and beasts, but they never give up and finally reached the buddhism temple and brought back the precious texts.
I illustrated the poster graphics with Illustrator, and designed the typeface based on ancient Chinese calligraphy style.
Safe Sex Advertising
This is a series of ads for promoting safe sex social issue. The head lines "Cover Up and Go", "Fasten Up and Go", and "Wrap Up and Go" work as ambiguous phrase that pursuade the audience to have safe sex as other safety practise in their everyday life.
Apollo and Daphne Posters and Book Cover
Poster design and book cover design for promotion of the novel Apollo and Daphne. Black and white illustration with silhouette style has been used throughout all the pieces.
The story of Apollo and Daphne is a famous tragedy from greek mythology, it is about revenge, chasing, and refusal. Darson's novel Apollo and Daphne is a contemporary interpretation of this story.
